Subject: EDITED RE: Bugs on pumpkins - found a link

Central IL
I had problems with adult root worm beetles on some I planted a few years back. Are they close to a corn field? I understand there is also some type of cucurbit beetle that appears very similar to the RW beetle. If these are grey, I don't think you have either of them.

If you plan to use the pumpkins for pie or eat them in anyway, check the label of spray carefully. Many are systemic and toxic once sprayed on the plant and the vegetation can not be eaten.

EDIT: found a link for uiuc pest management in pumpkins. There is a picture of a squash beetle, it appears the nymphs are grey.
