Subject: Justifying Irrigation?

tennessee
Here's the question--How many acres to justify an irrigation system? I'm a small farmer with about 400 acres. ( own 125) I have water around every farm I rent as well as the two I own. I've watched the water flow by all year while my crops are burning up and it just makes me sick. Most of my fields are somewhat small and irregular so I was thinking about something portable but really don't know anything about the different systems out there. Do I have enough acres to justify "any" type of irrigation? This summer is really weighing on my nerves, no rain and 98 degrees here today with high humidity. Could I do anything productive with a traveller or would it take to long to get over everthing? I'm up for any ideas at this point.
