Subject: RE: Fungicides...NE IL

Last year here, there were hybrids that had a 20-30 bu yield response from Headline applications. In overlap areas (happens a lot in our terraces) I bet it was 100+bu difference. Mainly just a few people did some test strips. The thing is that when they made the application, there was not much disease pressure in the field. It turned wet in August and the leaf diseases exploded. If we had used scouting to apply, i think we would have been too late. That being said, last year may have been an anomally. I am applying headline this year based on how long I plan to let each field stand in the field (harvest schedule) and hybrid disease ratings. Spaying about half of my acres and leaving test strips. I honestly don't expect it to pay, but its been really humid the last few days, so who knows.

A 20 bu increase last year would have paid for several years of application, plus not having to deal with down corn, and vlunteer corn this year..
