Subject: RE: Fungicides...NE IL...OK

Freeburg, IL
I'll make the claim. 1 particular example at least from 2006. Carlinville, IL (south of Springfield. 1/2 of a plot was sprayed across the rows that included 4 different companies' corn. The plot was sprayed around the 1st of July (don't know the exact date). On July 19, 2006 a severe storm came through Springfield and proceded down I55 and eventually crippled the city of St. Louis and several outlying towns. Straight line winds were in the 90+ range. The afore mentioned plot was in the path of this storm.

Lodging scores from the untreated area were consistently 2X the treated...CONSISTENTLY!

The in-season plant health coorelates to later in-the-season standability as well, in my humble opinion! When you remove a stalk rot problem from a plant, there tends to be a night and day difference in standability.

For the record, I have a bunch of checks lined up where we sprayed either across a field with a plane or made a round in a field with a Hagie. Very little blanket spraying.
