Central IL
Well, 2005 was a mystery to many here. Little rain, good grain. My feeling was in 2005 we got hit with some real nice 1/2 or 3/4" rains at just the right time. Nice rain at pollination in July, and a nice rain in August during grain fill.

For 2007, approximate numbers from memory are below, actual numbers are at home.

We had about 5 1/2 inches here in June. Bad thing was it was mostly in 2 rains 2 days apart.

1 inch in May
5 1/2 in June (just 2 days in the 3rd week)
1 inch in July

My concern this year is when/how the rains fell. To me 5 1/2 in 3 days isn't the same as 11 rains of 1/2 inch each once a week. We've had about 7 1/2 this growing season, but I would expect it to act more like 4 inches because of how we received it.

Beans are setting pods but NEED moisture to fill. Long range FC shows no rain and close to 100 from here on out. Uh-oh.
