GTE Personally we put the most confidence in local neighbor type plots. We realize DK is pushing Headline big-time w/plot mailings. No problem, we read & discard. But, when you talk to neighbors we get a feel of real-world life. Well, the problem is that Headline just started getting used here (NE IL....have NO idea where you are-you're very ambiguous) so there's only a smattering of real-life farmer testimonials. Yes, there was only 1 yr....so when do YOU try it on YOUR farm? Time goes by & you'll never know unless you get your feet wet. Re. fall standability. I'll disagree with you there also. That IS one thing we ask about. Not sure which combine operators you talk to, but most here can tell exactly when they go in/out of Headline (or maybe other brands..don't know). Many spray plots (BIG plots) crosswise to row direction so that they can distinguish it from other field phenominon. I realize this would be scoffed in higher-level scientific circles....but we don't operate there on a daily basis. So-what IS a consistant basis? 2 yrs? How long has Headline been used in your area on corn now? Are you in that 80+% area? Again, if it doesn't work this yr, you can probably count on much less usage in '08. I feel the main reason is the one YOU presented....there is no valid way to scout for it's need. Finally, I'd say the past 10 days have been foggy mornings in NE IL fb heat/humidity. Is that environment conducive to any problems for corn? Oh, yes, recent year crops have yielded a high amount of trash, even w/conv till. Any problem? |
