Did you take that rye off as silage, or did you kill it early?
If you killed it early, it may not have hurt you. What I see around here, taking that rye (or wheat .. or hay...) off as forage really zapped the following corn crop.

I agree. Having it dry helped to force those corn roots down deeper. If it had been a wet May, and then the amount of rain we've had since, I think we would be in worse shape than what we are now.

When it's dry in May and June - as it has been this year - I keep telling myself "that is okay". It'll get wet in July and August, and we can use it then. So far..... it's not panning out this year.
