Ashburn, GA, (very close to Heaven!) | That is a very good rule of thumb, even over here. A lot, however, depends on the available moisture stage of maturity of the top crop. There are some rare cases where we have to continue watering a little past that, but I like the idea of gritting my teeth and waiting a little, as I worry about an irrigation locking up a few cracking bolls at the botton, or even adding to rot. I know some that let a couple of nodes open at the botton, then if no rain, turn the water back on to finish out the top. |
