If you had good wheat yields this year, I think the 50 lbs total N will be too low as well in beginning no-till continuous wheat. If you are putting the seed in the furrow with the seed, I would stay under 15-20 lbs of N with the seed however. On 9" spacing, I usually can get away with up to 20 lbs of N in the furrow, but if its a little dry, I get nervous waiting for it to come up. Wider row spacings should go with correspondingly lower rates. If you can band to the side or below the seed, go with higher rates at seeding. If I need more than 20# N, I usually go with dry urea spread early spring while soil temperatures are cold, but soil thawing. And then put another 10# or more with my herbicide application in spring if I think a little more is necessary.
