West Texas | Never fly under anything? Good advice. Wonder if those pilots spraying for the boll weevil people have heard that. They often fly under power lines. Just five feet between the tip of their tail fin and the power line. 20' clearance on these lines, BTW.
One of my neighbors has been crop dusting for years, and has a really unique flying style that is instantly recognizable from miles away. Nobody else can pivot a loaded duster on its wingtip and return for another swath like he can. I'll bet there are tractors that make wider turns.
A 19 year old kid flying for his grandpas company clipped a cotton trailer with a wingtip as he was attempting to emulate ol' Roys' flying style. He survived pretty much intact, but we'll havta wait and see if he gets back in the saddle. | |
