Somerville, Indiana | a lot more wheat in Indiana south of highway 50 than north. Also can grow double crop white or yellow corn after wheat harvest, 5 year average is 105 bpa, test weight will be on the light side of 56. Not many takers on growing notill corn after wheat though.
as far as counting your straw $$$$, be sure to contract that operation out with main requirement to run the baler behind the combine with straw off the field the same day. Hours are very critical with both beans and dc corn on June 18th. I highly doubt the average farmer can get 30 to 40 $$$/acre net for straw if he figures all his costs. Those teenagers like a decent wage too, no matter who their father is.
