Subject: Re: Plan B

WC ILL or on a HD on a road to 'somewhere'...

Just the cold hard facts; The 'real' reality is that it's just pretty danged hard to have a 'good' fall residual chemical program.

Look at it this way, It's hard to have spring applied residual 'work'. Imagine now trying to extend that through the winter + add harder to kill winter annuals into the equation.

The safest & prolly most effective fall program ahead of beans is still the 2,4-D - glyphosate program. Pretty much guaranteed to get 90% of the winter annuals, dandelion & '0' chance of hurting the beans next year. In an RR program where you get the beans planted @ a normal time & giant rag aren't a huge issue, you just can't beat it. You'll plant the beans w/out a prior burndown & do more than spray 'em twice during the season. For the most part, that's what we have to now anyway.

The next up the chain is 'Extreme' + 2,4-D. Adds a little cost + a little residual.

If you want to live a little more dangerous, you can try the 1lb of simazine w/ the 2,4-D/ glyphosate. Slight risk of carryover to the beans, but the potential is quite a bit less than w/ express.

There's also Valor = still a better choice than express w/ little chance of injury.

Personally; I'll go w/ the 2,4-D & glyphosate...
