Northeast Louisiana | This fact is why I don't think soybean rust will ever be a severe problem in the US. We don't start the growing season with a high enough spore count. In South America, rust has the whole northern half of the continent to overwinter and build up spores to be carried by the wind.
I mean, rust has been found along the Gulf Coast in soybean fields for a couple of years, but I haven't heard on anyone losing a field to it yet.
