It had been irrigated at one time for peas and sweet corn. I agree, waterlogging is a lot bigger problem in alfalfa production. As far as the flat rock being too close, it appears to do well down there until we get a streach of dry weather, and then it goes dormant.
It will be surface pumped from a lake, and then pivot irrigated. After your advice, maybe we should get a trajectory gun to do a mall area for a season before making this too big.
