Subject: RE: Connecting EZ-Guide to CaseIH AFS Universal Display Plus

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
I haven't done this exact combination but TORNs advice seems reasonable and consistent with what I've seen in the past.

The large 5 pin metri-pak connector is what I have seen in other RED combines to get GPS in and power and ground out. The cable that you refer to with the DB9 and separate connector does what TORN has indicated: the DB9 is for GPS and the separate connector is for GPS power which in your case could use to either power the EZ Guide or not be used at all. The EZ Guide would need to get power and ground elsewhere

Concerning the DB9 "game". The fact that this connector has only three pins is good. Generally (with some exceptions) if the connectors mate you are in good shape. The fact that you have only three wires going to this connection is again consistent with what I would expect. I would not be concerned about smoking anything since these are only signal lines in this DB9.

I believe that you should be able to plug the cable from the EZ guide into the DB9 connector and power up the EZ guide either by using the separate connector or via another source. Using the separate connector provided on the Case cable would have provide "keyed" power to the EZ Guide which is probably not a big issue.

You may need to configure the EZ guide and then again it may default to the settings you need already.
