Hay Wilson in TX
Posted 6/29/2006 22:35 (#22923)
Subject: Another lesson for this slow learner.

Little River, TX
Cut alfalfa 3 days running, expecting to bale hay 3 days running, First field had 3 days of hot sun. No problem curing. Second field had one afternoon with a high overcast. The hay was cured but it was close. Third field with 2 days of afternoon high overcast will require an extra day before I hopefully can bale it. Forecast is rain Sunday.
This cutting is making about 40 small sq bales/acre. Not bad for dry land hay in CenTex in a dry year. Now if we get a fall cutting I may be able to go to Reno for the California hay Conference.
