Hay Wilson in TX

Subject: Horse owners for hay customers?

Little River, TX
The horse owning portion of the hay market is not my favorite customer. The have some odd notions as to what is appropriate for horse nutrition. Grow a forage and there will be at least one out there who wants your stuff. I have not found the horse owning public to be flush with cash.

The advantage of selling into the local hay market is you are selling retail and retail is where the largest mark up is.

I do not know of any advantages for brome grass as a forage. In Central Texas we do our best to get rid of it.

Remember this, with the horse owning public, be sure to get your money up front. They tend to be a poor credit risk.
