Subject: Headline ijury to corn ...

West Union, Illinois

A few days ago there was a discussion started on Headline injury to corn. I was at a Helena sponsored meeting today where it was discussed. As I recall it was not just Headline but anything with that active ingredient family. The agronomist said he had some calls on it and found one common denominator

Seriously!  He said every call he had with Headline damage involved a farmer with a JD high clearance sprayer doing it himself.  He says there is something about putting that active ingredient on with 20 GPA and 90+ temperatures that induces damage.  He said expect to see a label change concerning application.

He also commented that a flex ear hybrid will respond to fungicide applicatin m ore than a semi-flex or determinant ear.  Has to do with when the plant starts setting ear characteristics.
