| I have heard the same thing. Don't get to caught up in the JD or the 20 gpa part as it could be any sprayer or rate of water. I believe the thinking is that the boom placement was to close to crop canopy and the nozzles more or less sprayed directly into the whorl and didn't really cover the entire plant. More water caused more of the chemical to set in the whorl. In many cases the early spraying, before tassel, was made because the JD, Rogator, and Case style sprayers lacked the clearence to go at the desired time. That being said there were plenty reps that were just go, go, go in order to get their product on and didn't focus on the timing aspect like they should have. I have heard recently that brown silk time might actually be better for corn and the R4 stage for soybeans. | |
