Subject: Re: What is up with soybean yields.

Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska
As others have mentioned their first years of beans were some of their best. I think that is something to think about. Since we have gone to a corn-soybean rotation for the last 10 years or so our bean yields are starting to decline. The best yields were up to 3-4 years ago. But we did have some good yields right at first with conventional beans.
I think beans need a longer interval before being planted back to beans. Maybe 2-3 years of corn?
Some of our best beans this year were on normally lower producing fields but they haven't had beans on them for 4 years.
