You won't get anywhere with the conservation guys. What you say is true...but it doesn't conform to their charts, so you must be wrong. I have seen terrible erosion in no-till and have seen little in minimum-tillage. Over time, I don't see much difference. We rent one farm that had hogs on it for years and was cropped intensively for decades -- always tilled on slopes up to 12%. According to the formulas, his waterways should have ten feet of silt in them...but they are clear as they were 30 years ago. Obviously, the formulas must be off -- WAY off. We no-till the steepest of it now, most years. But I don't feel like I'm committing a felony if I chisel it once in a while.
