For several years, I got the University/Extension research magazine from Alaska. It was called "Agroborealis". I probably botched the spelling on that. There were some cole crops along with spuds, plus hardier grains. There was a good deal of research on various potential enterprises. At one point, they had imported muskox from Siberia. I think it had once been native in the state but had been hunted out. Pardon me if I got that fact wrong, but that's my recollection. That would have given them an animal with a farther-north range. But as someone else pointed out, most of the ag seemed to be in the Delta region. There were some pretty generous state incentives to pioneer in that area. Lot of oil money had become available. I'm sorry I don't get the magazine anymore. It was fascinating. I think it was delivered to a box that I dropped, and I never thought to do a change of address card.
