It takes a mind set to make it all work. Just like notill. It's the whole package. Big farmers on here that cover crop want to make it happen. You must plan for it don't wait for the calender to tell you can go cut soys. I have been planting earlier beans and getting the same yeilds. Last two yrs I have even planted some late group 1's to spread it out. 1500 acres 350 corn silage planted to cearel rye,some oats and plant corn early to get it of earlier. In PA we take 105 day corn of in August and I can even get some alfalfa planted after that. All our beans 500 acres gets rye some drilled some broad casted. You have to change from the old way of doing things to make covers work. My landlords love the green cover in the fall and spring and I still plant corn by the middle of april. Reality if you want it you can just don't worry about your neighbors. The steel wheelers around me didn't use to cover crop , but now they can't get enough.
