Subject: RE: What is milo used for?

Little River, TX

The opinion of a hay grower follows:

Milo can be substituted for corn in many rations.

Milo is not as versatile as corn, but produces better in dry and semi drought conditions. Like many grasses, milo when moisture is short, will go into a semi dormancy and start again where it left off with the next rain.

There is not the romance ($) with milo as there is with corn so there has been less plant breeding with it than we have seen with corn.

Both are tropical in origins.
