AS I understand the rules, the date of licensing determines what you have to do for security. A lot of older instalations got grandfathered in when the new rules came out. Also, looking at that tank, you will have to have a certified individual look it over before it is installed, and after as well. I know from experience, the breakaways alone are about $650 a piece, and you need one for vapor and one for liquid. Also, the hoses need to be replaced at least every 5 years. My point wasn't very clear last time. With all of the rules and regulations, insurance, licensing etc, I don't know that a private NH3 setup will pay for itself. The standards are ANSI K-61.1-1989. The state of Iowa, and most other states, use this ANSI standard as their rules. The compliance time and effort can be enormous. Best of luck. I do know that currently NH3 at the Koch plant by Ft Dodge Iowa is $535/ton FOB Ft Dodge. Not a lot of savings right now. Dave |
