| Dave, I think alot of it depends on soil types. In northern Iowa you see very few terraces compared to here and they get by farming hills we would never dream of without them. A couple of our landlords have tried getting by with water ways and buffer strips on the contour on some of their more rolling ground but they eventually gave up and put most of that ground in CRP this year after having to have a dozer come in to fix the waterways every year. The soil here in the southern couple tiers of counties in Iowa is alot different than what they have to the north and what works there won't work here. | |
