With more sun comes less rain, so wouldn't that be kind of a trade off? When you get to western IA, you are looking at about 60% of the rainfall that you get in the eastern Cornbelt. That is not a lot of rain to try to grow 200 bu. corn.

Also, I thought a quarter section was 160 ac. Of course, we don't have the township system down here in KY. Our land was laid out "starting at a big elum tree, north 900 paces to a pointy rock, then down to the deep pool on Indianbutt Creek, and so on".
