Subject: 24 Row Strip till "story" (pics)

Driftless SW Wisconsin

The 24 Pluribus on a Kinze 3700 are being replaced with 24 more Pluribus but will be on a 60' Wilrich toolbar carrying a lot of fertilizer on board. This is Shane Houck's design with tracks.

As Chad mentioned, these were used without fertilizer this past spring. The customer was very pleased with the results and now wants to go to putting fertilizer down with the units. Rather than trade the tool bar only and moving the units to the new bar, leaving a bare Kinze 60 ft bar, the dealer and customer agreed to trade the whole machine in on new units and new toolbar.

The Kinze 3700 toolbar worked well but was not designed to have the weight capacity to carry fertilizer on board in addition to the Pluribus units. The customer did not want to pull a trailing cart due to the large number of fields and the way he plants them. He wanted fertilizer carried on board and will be doing all strip till in the spring, as I recall.

These customers are large, successful, very careful methodical operators. They are moving ahead based on successful experience last year where they basically just used the Pluribus to clear, blacken and dry out strip to plant in this very wet spring area.

The Pluribus units on this toolbar are the 2007 design. They do not have the high speed kit pictured in the twin row long stalk corn above but it could be added as a bolt on option. The only reason they are for sale is that the customer wants to change toolbars to carry fertilizer. Here are some pictures of that unit in the field. That 24 rows on a Kinze bar would make a good machine for someone who had an air cart to tow behind or large saddle tanks on the tractor.

Oh yes, the customer also wanted to change to our new optional air bag down pressure system (an option for spring of 2008) on his Pluribus units. If you want to check what I am saying call the dealer.
