My in-laws farm rolling western Iowa hills northeast of Omaha. They complain about the poor soil where they leveled for a house/barnyard site decades ago. Looks black ALL the way down and feels like "potting" soil. Lord I wish I had 2,000 acres of their poor soil....
What makes Iowa/Illinois soil so good?
