our rotation is pumpkins-rye in the fall- then corn for 3yrs then alfalfa for 3 then back to pumpkins. we just always find that pumpkins are a very finicky crop...some bad years and some good....but isn't everything that way in farming? oh and we apply about 1200lbs an acre on them
