Oh definitely not Wheat Farmer!!!  Like I said it wasn't a til vs. no-till thing.  If the question is "will tillage cause damage" I have to say the answer is yes.  The very nature of tillage is destructive.  The longer question: is it less destructive to till now or wait until spring?  I have mixed opinions on that and will forgo getting into that here (and remember opinons are like....well you know) It is not my intent to turn this into a no-till thread.  If one wants to do tillage by all means go ahead, I just wanted to raise the point about what tillage actually does to the soil structure and biology etc.  I will finish now and won't hijack a very good question.
