southern MN | This doesn't help you any, but went to a hay auction today in southern MN.
Small squares, straw was $1.80-2.40 a bale.
Grass hay was $2.00-3.00
Alfalfa was $2.80-4.00
Mostly - few bits higher or lower, but that covers the average. Most is staked in 30-50 bale bundles, or about a pickup load worth.
Certainly higher than it was last year.
Sure is hard for me to tell the value of grass hay - some old rank ditch hay went on the high end, some nice green shorter grass went on the lower end. Huh. The alfalfa made sense, more leaves was worth more.
One stack of cornstalks, was about a buck, one stack of soybean stubble bales (that had to be hard on the baler!) went 60 cents.
