Subject: strange corn drying question

Newfane NY
We are starting over with our drying system and I was wondering if anyone has taken hot corn from a CF dryer and put it thru a Shivvers bin to steep and cool it? I am finding the new steeping and cooling bins and all related corn moving equipment is a whole lot of extra money that I am finding hard to believe I can make it payback with reduced LP per bu. cost.

Anyone have real costs on LP usage when they dry all heat or hot-cool???

Very little cost differance in the 40' SuperB over the 28' model. Thinking of hot-cool with bigger dryer rather that all heat with smaller dryer.

Looking for ideas and opinions.

Note to conservation cop.......a no-till free post...{smile}
