NE SD | If it was like the banding we had done 10 years ago, it was aimed at K banding with little attention payed to N. Done by a Co-op with a 12 row machine with an operator that didn't pay much attention to keeping his rows straight, or checking his guess row spacing etc. Then most farmers came in with different size planters, in our case a 16 row, and it was a nightmare trying to keep on top of the band. Strip-till now days is aimed at N placement and is usually done with either high-accuracy GPS, a machine that matches the planter, or both. There are basically two types of strip-till. Those that use a shank and a knife such as a mole knife with an aim to run from 4-10" deep, or those that use coulters only usually running 6" or less depth. Many manufacturers out there. |
