Subject: RE: Deep Slotting manure in Corn

We are customising the gear for our own need. The shanks are a standard non inversion ripping shank with 12,000lb break out and leading straight scalloped coulter. We are currently building the hopper ontop of the toolbar to carry the chook manure.(It is composted chook manure) It will involve series of agitators and large banding tubes to get this working. Keep in mind will only be applying 1.5mt/Ha of manure in rip lines every 1.33m in a 40cm band.
One of the main benifits for us is having a physical barrier(Chook manure) in the rip to stop the hard sodic layer (about 30cm deep) running back together in the wet winter bacause under that layer is good clay again. should work in theory but hasn't been tested.
The 1.33m ripping rows fit between a pair of our 66cm plant rows. (so one deep rip for two rows. Keeps soil disturbance down to a minimum.)
