![](/profile/get-photo.asp?memberid=72&type=profile&rnd=89) Little River, TX | Mike I first started comparing hay test mineral analysis to feeding text levels.
Now I find the researchers have done plant analysis using the top 6" or the whole tops. The whole tops data works reasonably well for what we get with the hay testing. Looking at adequacy ranges works, but looking at mineral ratios is more revealing.
The smart ones shine a bright light on the ratios, while I stumble around in the dark, illuminated by a candle.
My favorite testing is to pull plant analysis, top 6" clippings, in the last year of a stand, to plan my fertilizer program. Then pull another sample the first year that field is back in alfalfa.
I hope the Putnam's hands can get the web site running strong. I have become used to using the downloaded talks rather than a paper copy of the proceedings. | |
