Yes, many years ago.  Soil test showed adequate K, but plant tissue showed lack of K.  Side dressing did not correct the problem.  Since then I have learned that low k in tissues is generally the result of poor uptake not lack of K in the soil.  It takes both soil tests and tissue tests plus a good understanding of plant growth to determine need for any plant nutrient.
