| I should have clarifed what I meant by population. When we did yield counts we threw out worthless cobs, we threw less worthless cobs per 17.5 ft. (30" rows) away in the headline applied area than the non-treated area. I have found that I get closer yield counts by doing it this way although I am typically still 10-15% too high. The actually plant pop was equal but in the headline area there was less of the scavenger corn that doesn't produce a decent cob but just steals nutrients from the neighboring plants.
