Thats Interesting.

We've been playing around with making zones based on 3 years of Sattelite Imagery making 3 zones, high, med, low production areas and then sampling them seperatley. We "stumbled" onto the fact that our lower yeilding zones were low in P, areas like hilltops or edges that have been eroded over time (meaning since the earth was formed). As a test we lowered the N in those areas and DOUBLED the P. Then we added N to the higher yeilding areas and lowered the P, though not by 1/2. Had a great yield response in the eroded areas, a slight one in the low spots.
Are still playing with it tofine tune. Are now yield mapping to see results and correlate with satteleite imagery. Lots of expense and time for sure, only time will bear out if it pays or not. Am thinking if we can incease yield and keep net fert use the same or lower then it will be a wash or pay a profit, we will see.
