Subject: Re: Ear Plugs

I find that I prefer the ear muff style hearing protector. I find the ear plugs to be annoying and hurt after an hour or so. However, Gempler sells a sample pack which contains 5 or six styles of ear plugs to try.

Back to earmuff style hearing protection, I just recieved a set of PA4000 NoiseBuster Noise Cancelling Earmuffs. They have an electronic circuit which actively cancels the low frequency noise on a tractor. The Muffs themselves are very effective, but when you turn on the noise cancelling in a tractor, a lot more noise dissapears. You can plug a radio or MP3 player directly into them and the sound is great and you don't have to have the volume high either. On the negative side, they clamp on my head a little too tightly and cost $150. However as I get older and my hearing deteriorates, I am willing to spend whatever it takes to keep my hearing. It's just no fun to not be able to take part in conversations because you don't know what people are saying. If interested, check out
