Subject: On energy and govt

There would be just a couple simple things we could do to reduce energy demand and prices. #1, reduce the # of blends mandated on the refineries by EPA. It's hard to understand why Kansas City, Columbia, and St. Louis all require different gasoline blends. #2, ease the emmissions requirements that are preventing small, fuel efficient diesels from coming into the U.S. market. Are European diesels that dirty? I doubt it. #3, roll back the tier 3 standards for diesels to, well, maybe never. They have made the engines too expensive to buy, too expensive to run, and too complicated, as well as cutting fuel mileage. All those costs have to be passed on by transportation companies.

I think just those 3 things would help out immensly.
