Subject: Irrigation Center Pivots - timing driveline knuckles?

Gresham, Nebraska
We're struggling a bit in keeping the driveline knuckles together on our irrigation center pivots on towers that have been retrofitted with the Mach II wheels.  The knuckles are the type that have the "rubber puck" for the cross (a somewhat flattened flexible material with 4 knobs on it, something like a Lovejoy connector).  It seems that the Mach II wheels have enough shock in their operation to tear apart this type of knuckle.  While replacing some knuckles this morning I got to thinking about the timing of u-joints on drivelines, so in a "moment of inspiration" I did the same on this pivot tower.  Do you think it will help any or did I just, well, whatever.....  What's your vote?  Thumbs up or thumbs down?
