Subject: Learned a couple things about the local ethanol plant today.



I delivered my load of hay to the local ethanol plant operations manager today. Had a nice conversation while the truck was unloaded.

#1, I suppose, is that they are operating at nearly 20% over their nameplate capacity. Listed at 40 million gallons last year they put out 51 and are on track to go over 52 this year. He also says they are continually upgrading and changing and that will get better.

#2 is that there is no heat added in the fermenting process. All the fermentation and breakdown is done with enzymes. That has got to help with energy balance bigtime.

Talked about a few other things that seem inconsequintial right now, but I though those were the two most interesting.
