| You need to start with determining your basis for each crop -determine your storage cost..ROI on investment & debt service...& estimate the periods when you have a strong basis: example, prior to this year due to historic price moves....the corn basis may typically narrow in early december & then either in feb/march....match your grain bids for those periods less your cost of carry & when at equilibrium point...liquidate the stored grain, in some cases, rarely, it may provide some reward to July. Usually not, just depends on your local market. Ethanol plant usage is going to eventually change some patterns. | |
