Ya know, now that I think about it, mebee he was referring to his mommy was gonna show him how to make paste out of grains. I remember, back in the day when we didn't have enough money on the farm to buy real Elmer's, mom would mix up some flour and water and we would "paste" our pictures to the posterboard for the kindergarten teacher.
