Subject: Re: Costs in Mexico

Lubbock, Texas
the corn price was up in Mexico because they index their food corn price to US feed corn prices

and the government gives tortilla subsidies and can fix the priced of a kilo of tortillas

the leftonistas in the USA were using the rising cost of corn in Mexico to bash ethanol

now we see Mexico lifting their import controls on their national staple (like Japan and rice) and the Mexican farmer complains

a US farmer just can't win.....find a good use for their product and they are starving the worlds poor.....give food away and you are keeping poor world farmers from competing......sell to those paying the "high prices" and their countries farmers complain

then when farm commodity prices drop......no one will be there to help a farmer.....they will just love the cheap prices

kind of also looks like Mexico has the same forget the farmers and appease the masses with cheap food ideas as the USA media sometimes spouts
