The time is going to depend on the humidity and the dew point and that is often determined by where you live. There are times in the dryer wheat growing areas that you can cut all night long if you want to. So I guess the answer is you can combine wheat whenever the straw is dry enough to thresh without a lot of noise and complaints from the combine.



that pretty much sums it up. at the start of a harvest run in late may in the oklahoma/texas area it is very possible to run all day and all night since most of the time its dry as can be and threshes really easy and moisture percentage stays in the low 10s. but when you get to places like north dakota, its the opposite, moisture can be up in the 18% but thats extreme and its mostly due to the fact its getting late in the season and it needs to be out of the field and into a dryer ASAP. Cutting lasts maybe noon till around 11pm due to humidity and crop not threshing right.
