I have run one 15" martin and one rubber wheel on my 7000 here in SE Mn since 2000 or 2001 in mostly notill silt loam soils. I like the one rubber wheel to keep the spader from going to deep in a couple fields with a vein of sand running through them.
No matter the brand, make sure the closing brackets are in good shape and keep the spader centered over the row.
I'm using the same set up on a Kinze planter with Martin floating row cleaners. It has worked well in both no-till and conventional. Can't overemphasize the importance of the condition of the brackets and being sure the spaders are centered and properly spaced. Martin Mfg. is very helpful with proper set up. |
