Recording planting data in the planter tractor is relatively simple. The only "extra" equipment you'd need is an implement switch on the planter to start/stop the recording in relation to planter operation. Then, you must also enter variety (we do both corn & sb) names in and REMEMBER to switch the variety in the monitor when actually changing them in the planter. Actually, we wait 'til about 1 round after filling planter to change the monitor. That allows cleanout of previous seed variety. WAAS would be fine for this operation, I think. Of course, you can use that same monitor (PF3000 or Advantage) to data-log nitrogen application if you're working w/a monitor, like a Ravens. They'll connect to each other. Yes, we think the Insight is worth the extra $$. But you sure can start much cheaper w/the black & white sets like the PF & Advantage. I really haven't seen a used Insight...but there are used older sets still working just fine. |
