NC Kansas | I've always been told that government payments have little or nothing to do with the farmers who actually receive them. They're meant to encourage farmers to buy new pickups, new tractors, new houses, etc., etc.. A large part of the farm manufacturing sector would dry up and blow away without them, losing all kinds of union jobs. I don't know whether to believe it or not, but we'd all have to be better managers without that little bit of pin money coming in, manufacturers included. | |
